Stablebot -

Alright – its a long time since the last Stablebot update! Since I’ll be presenting on the stablebot, at VERRF, I want to do a writeup on what it is and what it’s not! Without further ado - What is the Stablebot Core? The Stablebot Core intends to be a scalable motion platform that utilizes E3D’s toolchanging specifications to use tools. Primary uses are :3D Printing with Light milling (in the form of ASMBL), Coloring, Pick and place, and pretty much anything else that only has light side loading on the toolhead! Key Features: E3D and Jubilee TC head compatible...

ASMBL -

Alright – the ASMBL is out from E3D and the biggest thing most people are talking about is the subtractive cutting head!!!! This is pretty cool news for pros and hobbyists alike as we now can get ever-closer to injection molded tolerances but yet with near-infinite flexibility. I’m pretty excited to play with this on my stable as it means I can use an extremely large nozzle like on a supervolcano but yet get very refined cornering and features. Once the parts arrive, I am SUPER excited to get going. Well, per the thingiverse - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4206827 most of the items linked to...

Alright, this is a pretty common topic floating around on discord, and I’d like to share my thoughts on the whole generic/gates idler pulley discussion.   My first coreXY build was what I fondly call Mongo - a converted rigidbot that I brought to the darkside with a corexy gantry. You can find more here: https://github.com/lukeslaboratory/CoreXY-Rigidbot-Conversion This uses 6mm 20T equivalent idlers, which I purchased from a variety of sources and suppliers, some amazon, some aliexpress from different vendors. They all have come with 5mm ID ~8.5mm OD bearings on both the top and the bottom of the idler. They...

Alright - I admit that I haven’t been good at all with the promises I’ve made about blogging during stablebot creation. It’s been about 2 months since my last update, and I’m sorry that I haven’t spoken enough. Things are progressing quite well in the lab. I’ve made some changes+upgrades that I didn’t expect to make, and partially due to coronavirus shipping issues, I’ve decided to swap to e3d’s toolchanger vs using the Jubilee cable driven one. I’m kinda a sucker for metal, so having the e3d-perfect machining is always a boon. Here’s a list of all the progress from...

Alright – its been a while since I’ve last updated on this project – I haven’t written about it since last decade! (ha-ha) I have some exciting news and some frustrations as well. Here’s some pictures! The good:                 All motors move!                 CoreXY Runs well!                 Z-Axis works… now – Post to come!                 Heater Heats bed to 110C at even 50% PWM                 Duet 3 + Raspi 3 is a flipping neat combo!                 Bed Axis Tilting works, but machine needs to be restarted afterwards. Current forum post discussing the cause: https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/13562/g30auto-tilt-creates-hidden-z-offset-duet-3-3-0rc2-dsf1-2/18                 Hemera working well!   The...
